Established in 1933 by leaders in the veterinary profession, AAHA is the only exclusive companion animal veterinary association. AAHA is well known for its high standards in veterinary practices and quality pet care and promotes those standards within the veterinary profession and to the public. The Association develops benchmarks of excellence, business practice standards, informative publications and educational programs designed to help companion animal practices thrive.
AAHA believes in "Healthy Practices. Healthier Pets." and is dedicated to raising the bar in veterinary care. Throughout the Association's 75 years, its mission has remained the same: provide veterinary professionals with the resources they need to effectively manage their businesses and deliver the best in companion animal care.
The AAHA membership philosophy allows every hospital staff member, from veterinarians to receptionists, to benefit from AAHA's resources through one group membership. Today, AAHA serves approximately 6,000 practice teams in the United States and Canada that are comprised of more than 40,000 individual veterinary care providers. General Medicine and Services
Examinations - At Animal Medical Clinic and Westbrook Animal Clinic, we offer comprehensive examinations that help evaluate the overall health of your pet. Regular physical examinations can detect problems in their early stages, before they become serious illnesses requiring prolonged treatment. Preventative medicine is the easiest, least expensive and most important way to keep your pet healthy. Early detection ensures prompt action that may solve the problem before serious consequences occur.
Vaccines - Immunizations are a crucial part of your pet's health care. Some immunizations are recommended yearly while others are given every three years. Usually administered during an annual exam, we work with you to develop an individual vaccine protocol that best suits your pet's needs.
Microchip Identification - This unique form of identification is an easy, yet permanent way to bring your pet home quickly should he / she become lost. The microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath your pet's skin between the shoulder blades, and stays there for his / her entire life. This procedure is as easy and as painless as a vaccination.
Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, are added to a national pet registry. Most veterinary hospitals and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found and a microchip is scanned it is easy for you to be contacted.
Nutritional Counseling - Proper diet is an important part of your pet's health. Should your pet need a new diet due to health concerns or you are just looking for a healthy alternative to your current brand, we offer individual consultations and nutritional plans to help keep your pet healthy.
Behavior Counseling - Pets often show illness or anxiety through improper or changed behavior. Let our staff help you determine what is appropriate behavior and what you can do to change inappropriate behavior.
Dermatology - Hair loss and constant scratching can indicate fleas, food allergies or other more serious skin conditions. We provide specialized dermatological services to all of our patients including allergy testing and desensitization treatments.
Dentistry - Clean teeth and healthy gums are essential to your pet's health. Infections are more common in the mouth because they can go undetected for long periods of time. Our veterinary staff regularly performs oral exams, cleanings and periodontal care as part of our comprehensive health care goals.
Some Signs of Dental Problems include:
- Bad breath – one of the first signs of dental disease
- A yellowish-brown crust of plaque on the teeth near the gum line
- Red and swollen gums
- Pain or bleeding when your pet eats or when the mouth or gums are touched
- Decreased appetite or difficulty eating
- Loose or missing teeth
Dental problems, if left untreated, can often lead to larger systemic problems in your pet due to oral bacteria entering the blood stream and damaging the kidneys, heart and liver.
Baths and Nail Trims - Hygiene is important. We gladly offer baths and nail trims to our patients. We do not provide complete grooming services.
Adoption Services - We regularly work with local area shelters and rescue organizations.
Kitten Adoptions- Animal Medical Clinic currently has a kitten adoption program. We want to ensure that healthy kittens are being adopted out to responsible, loving pet owners. Animal Medical Clinic will take-in kittens that need to be adopted and meet our standards and adopt them out to the public. Please contact our office for details at (405)348-6580.

Hydro-surge Bath: is a pressurized, pulsating, deep cleg bathing system that gets deep down under your pet's fur and gives them an amazing, shiny coat.
Bath & Tidy: This service includes a hydro-surge bath, toe nail trim, anal gland expression and deep ear cleaning. O'Ya and a super cute bandana to wear home!
Strip: This service includes our bath & tidy along with a summer shave down for your pet.
Clipper clean-up: This service is for those pets that only need a touch-up, such as a potty trail, trimming around the feet and face or just cutting out mats.
De-matting: This service is designed to brush out the under coat during seasonal shedding and all that other pesky hair that your pet releases. This is a tedious job and your time is valuable so let us do it for you.
Carding: Unlike de-matting carding removes the seasonal undercoat of dogs that have 2 coats and helps to prevent matting from occuring.
Grooming: Contact our groomer about the type of cut your want your pet to have and if she can do it -- she will. Our groomer is in the office and available to do bathing and grooming M-F. For your convenience, you may drop-off as early as 7:00 am and pick-up as late as 6:00 pm. For any questions regarding grooming services you may contact Kathy Rice at (405) 348-6580.
